Our Commercial Rainwater Harvesting Solutions

Bespoke Solutions

The custom-engineered route for large, complex projects.

Consider our bespoke Commercial Rainwater Harvesting solutions on large, complex sites, on projects where high levels of water efficiency are required or where your client is aiming for BREEAM Excellent status. The bespoke route can help secure the maximum of 5 BREEAM credits for water reuse by meeting 75% of flushing demand with recycled rainwater. Take a look at just one of our popular bespoke solutions below.

Non-pressurised Rainwater Harvesting System

Scalable & highly modifiable for maximum sustainability benefits.

System Overview

Our non-pressurised system is one of the most reliable ways of achieving rainwater harvesting on a large-scale site. The system collects rainwater in a central below or above ground storage tank and then boosts collected rainwater to an intermediary break tank.

We will size your break tank to provide a suitable level of internal storage capacity to meet your peak water demands. The break tank is also home to the automatic mains water backup function which will operate in periods of prolonged drought periods. This water is boosted to points of use via an energy efficient booster set. View the technical layout schematic here.

Here are some of the advantages of this bespoke arrangement

  • Ability to scale or up down to meet your demand requirements.
  • Offers multiple fail-safe protections to minimise the risk of disruptive supply interruptions.
  • The system can still provide a water supply whilst being serviced.
  • We can easily incorporate an additional level of filtration through our unique Automatic Backwash System, facilitating improved water quality.
  • A quality, wholistic system offered by Stormsaver where all components are monitored and are working together to achieve maximum reliability.
  • We can combine this system with your sustainable drainage capacity through our Active Attenuation System.

Off-the-shelf Solutions

Quality, pre-manufactured systems for rapid deployment to sites across the UK.

We recommend utilising our off-the-shelf Commercial Rainwater Harvesting Systems for small-to-medium sized commercial projects. Our standardised solutions offer quicker lead times and simpler installation for construction contractors. Although these are off-the-shelf solutions, we still offer a range of bespoke modifications to suit your site requirements. Take a look at some of our off-the-shelf solutions below.

Combi Rainwater Harvesting System

Simplicity & sustainability in a compact, easy to install form.

System Overview

The combi system collects captured rainwater in an above or below ground storage tank. When a demand is detected within the building, a set of submersible pumps boost the rainwater to the combi unit. Our uniquely designed combi unit houses controls, a break tank, automatic mains water back up and an energy efficient booster set in one pre-manufactured unit. It’s like a compact version of a non-pressurised system.

The Stormsaver Combi is unique on the market in that it comes in a range of capacities which should suit your project’s peak demand. We can do these calculations for you, just request a quote. You can also find our technical documentation here.

  • A simple, safe and compliant way of achieving sustainable water management.
  • Ideal for most commercial projects and buildings.
  • Rapid installation through the pre-manufactured unit, saving time on site.
  • An automatic third stage of automatic filtration can be incorporated into the Stormsaver Combi system.
  • A quality system by Stormsaver which will stand the test of time to save water.
  • Can be linked with a real-time monitoring unit to highlight water savings to building users.

StormStation Rainwater Harvesting System

The modular, carbon neutral solution to recycling rainwater.

System Overview

Our StormStation is a completely plug and play solution designed to house all the components needed for rainwater harvesting in one weatherproof structure. StormStation is ideal retrofitting to existing buildings and is even ideal for new builds where a simple and speedy installation is required. As standard, we offer the advanced feature of automatic UV re-circulation. A small, energy-efficient pump continuously cycles rainwater through a UV disinfection unit, preventing legionella development.

Technical Features & Compliance

Compliance

British Standard - All Stormsaver rainwater harvesting solutions are designed in full compliance with BS 16941-2024 for on-site non-potable water systems. This standard covers every aspect of rainwater harvesting in the UK, including design, sizing, installation, identification, commissioning, and maintenance.

Sizing - As experienced sizing specialists, we go beyond the guidance outlined in the British Standard. We ensure optimal capacity levels within internal storage equipment, enhancing system reliability and reducing dependence on mains water. This is critical to a systems long-term operational performance.

CIRIA SUDs Manual - Rainwater harvesting is a recognised sustainable urban drainage (SUDs) method, as endorsed by the CIRIA SUDs manual. In fact, it ranks at the top of the SUDs hierarchy, making it a premier choice for sustainable water management.

BREEAM - Rainwater harvesting can contribute to a higher BREEAM rating by earning valuable credit points; 5 points for meeting 75% of flushing demand with rainwater, 4 points for 50%, and 3 points for 25%.

Water Neutrality - For projects in water neutrality areas, we offer detailed water-saving forecasts for all our rainwater harvesting systems. Our estimated efficiency graph provides valuable data to support your water neutrality statements during the planning phase.

Technical Features

BMS Connectivity – Seamlessly connect your Stormsaver Rainwater Harvesting System to your building management system for real-time monitoring. Available by BACNET or MODBUS.

Intelligent Controls – Stormsaver systems are “wholistic” in their design. This means that all components are in constant communication with our high-tech control panel.  It’s the best way to ensure a smooth operation and surprisingly, it is not a feature all systems include.

Multi-tank Compatibility – Whether you need multiple main storage tanks to increase your rainwater storage potential or you have multiple buildings connected to the same system, we can provide multi-tank options to maximise your water saving potential.

Mains Water Protection – We take steps to ensure your system will not waste any mains water through our innovative mains water protection feature – this is not a common feature on other systems. This means you can avoid unexpected high mains water bills.

Automatic Backwash Filtration – For high-quality supply of sustainable water, we can include an automatic third stage of filtration. Many simply cannot offer this as an automatic option. Find out more here.

UV Disinfection – Our systems can be supplied with UV disinfection. The British Standard recommends this for where rainwater is used in an aerosol format, but we think it is always best to protect your building from potentially harmful bacteria. It is important to remember that although clean, rainwater is still classed as a Category 5 water, so it is important to include this vital stage of protection.
